Funding Opportunities

For Cal Poly Faculty

Proposal Writing Grants: Seed funds are available in the amount of $2000 to support grant writing activities in an area that fits within the scope of the Global Waste Research Institute. The seed funds can be used to support travel to a funding agency; used for purchasing supplies; or used for supporting the faculty member or other personnel (e.g., students). Requested funds should be used for supporting activities in preparation of proposals seeking external grants. Proposals intended for internal Cal Poly grants are not eligible. The external funds sought must be in a minimum amount of $50,000. Faculty members from all contributing Colleges of GWRI (CENG, CAFES, CSM, OCB) are eligible for the grant. Individual and groups of faculty members can apply for the grant. Applications are due March 15, 2011. Grant decisions will be announced by the end of February. It is expected that up to five Proposal Writing Grants will be available for this cycle. For the successful applications that receive Proposal Writing Grants, the external proposals must be submitted to the intended funding agency between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012. GWRI must be included as the unit requesting support in the external proposal. The funds in the amount of $2000 will be provided to the faculty member upon demonstrating proof of submission of the external grant proposal.
